Gas Prices Now A Big Factor In Presidential Election

CBS -- MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It might be one of the biggest issues in the upcoming presidential election. Last night, CBS News exit polls found 77 percent of those voting in seven Super Tuesday states say rising gas prices were the most important factor in their vote.

The poll reflects growing consumer anxiety as gas prices have risen nearly 50 cents a gallon in just over two months.

Consumers have been telling us they are cutting corners because for most driving is a necessity.

Which is a complete joke, since no politician can significantly affect the price of a global commodity.

It would be as equally ludicrous as demanding that the President do something about the price of gold.

Exactly where in the Constitution's description of the executive branch does it mention responsibility for commodity prices like fuel?

dream on, people have short term memory loss when it comes to elections. If they are given something right before the final election and it's free, they would dump their own mother to vote that person in office and scream for more.
